How to Choose a Water Purification System for Your Home: Tips from ClimaEco

1. What Impurities Are Found in Water

  • Mechanical: sand, silt, clay, rust — visible to the eye, damage appliances.
  • Chemical: hardness salts (calcium, magnesium), iron, manganese, chlorides, nitrates.

2. Types of Purification Systems

  • For a private house, you need a full-scale station with a mechanical filter, softener, and possibly an iron remover.
  • If the water is very hard (as in Alicante) — a softener is essential.
  • If there are concerns about bacteriological safety — install a UV lamp.

4. What to Look for When Buying

  • Capacity: how many liters per hour the system can purify. For a family of 3-4 people, you need at least 150-200 L/day.
  • Cartridge life: how often they need replacement and how much they cost.
  • Ease of maintenance: whether you can change cartridges yourself.
  • Certifications: the system should have documents confirming its purification efficiency.
